Air Force Recruiting Service honored two of its top recruiters recently by awarding them promotions through the Stripes for Exceptional Performers program.

Master Sgt. Amy Cost, 330th Recruiting Squadron in Indianapolis, Ind., and Tech. Sgt. William Daniels, 311th RCS in New Cumberland, Pa., both received STEP promotions from Brig. Gen. Suzanne Vautrinot, AFRS commander.

Since 1980, the STEP program has provided Air Force wing commanders and above the opportunity to promote a limited number of Airmen who have performed exceptionally well during their careers and demonstrate strong leadership skills to the rank of staff sergeant through master sergeant.

Lt. Col. Robert Trayers, 330th RCS commander, presented Sergeant Cost, a marketing representative, her new stripes Jan. 3 at the 330th RCS headquarters while Col. Tony Henderson, 360th Recruiting Group commander, had the honor of presenting Sergeant Daniels with his new rank Jan. 12 during the 311th RCS commander's call in Pittsburgh.
Sergeant Cost's career highlights include earning the distinguished graduate honor at the Noncommissioned Officer Academy, the 330th RCS 2005 First Sergeant Award, and both squadron- and group-level 2006 Support NCO of the Year.

"She's a very knowledgeable individual, rock solid, always leaning forward, and already working and thinking as a master sergeant even before the stripe," said Senior Master Sgt. Chuck Lamer, Sergeant Cost's supervisor and 330th RCS production supervisor. "When I think of the STEP program, she's so deserving, it makes me proud to see that the promotion went to just the person this program is designed for."

Sergeant Daniel's hard work and dedication to Air Force recruiting paid off in 2006, earning him the squadron's triple crown of Top Flight Recruiter of the Year, Top Enlisted Recruiter of the Year and Top Recruiter of the Year.

"His ability to supervise and maintain the respect of his peers, even though he doesn't outrank them, shows he is deserving of his new rank," said Master Sgt. Terry Lemmon, Sergeant Daniel's supervisor and 311th RCS enlisted accessions flight chief.
