Recruit ships with hopes to become world class athlete

Delbert Taylor, an Air Force trainee and avid boxer, wanted to shift his focus from his boxing career to the military so he applied and shipped to Basic Military Training Nov. 21, 2022. While working with Staff. Sgt. Javier Perez-Zamora, of the 311th Recruiting Squadron, Taylor found out he could do both. After applying for the Air Force, he was accepted into the Air Force’s World Class Athlete Program and will be training to compete in the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games upon graduation of basic military training.
