Recruiting squadron seeking military volunteers

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. --  

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 319th Recruiting Squadron here has launched an initiative to inspire, engage, and recruit the next generation of Airmen and Guardians into the Department of the Air Force.

The Committed Augmentee Recruiting Effort, or CARE, offers Airmen in other career fields the opportunity to partner with 319 RCS members in the local community.

“As volunteer recruiter augmentees, Airmen will have the opportunity to support the recruiting mission of identifying the next generation of Airmen and Guardians,” said Capt. Tyler Sullivan, 319 RCS Operations Flight commander.

Military volunteers are needed at the Lobster Fest in Rockland, Maine, Aug. 2-6; Bangor State Fair in Bangor, Maine, Aug. 3-6; Skowhegan Fair in Skowhegan, Maine, Aug. 10-19; Cumberland Country Fair in Cumberland, Rhode Island, Sept. 24-30; and the Fryeburg Fair in Fryeburg, Maine, Oct. 1-8.

The initiative is one of many the 319th Recruiting Squadron has introduced to increase recruiting throughout the region. This past spring, recruiters partnered with Airman Leadership School staff and students to visit local high schools and share their stories of service with young people who might be interested in enlisting.

Additionally, the squadron launched the inaugural Air and Space Forces’ Sentry Educator Award. This program recognizes the top 10 educators, including counselors, teachers, coaches, and principals, throughout New England.

These programs follow Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Q. Brown, Jr., asking leaders in January to “connect the Air Force with the American public.”

“When the public meets our amazing Airmen, sees the exciting missions, and understands the value of military service, it can be life changing,” wrote Brown.

According to Sullivan, once volunteer milestones are met, individuals participating in CARE will have the opportunity to earn a patch and coin and be presented the Air and Space Force Achievement Medal from the squadron’s commander.

The 319th Recruiting Squadron, headquartered at Hanscom AFB, covers 105 countries in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as the six New England states. The squadron’s mission is to inspire, engage and recruit diverse applicants to serve as future Airmen and Guardians for the nation.
